The Client

pharmaceutical line Pharma was established in Killorglin in the 1970s and is a subsidiary of Klinge Pharma GmbH, which is based in Munich, and part of the Fujisawa Group. At Killorglin, they have a multi-purpose pharmaceutical facility engaged in manufacturing a wide range of products for treating diseases. Over the years, Klinge Pharma has evolved from being a supplier of bulk pharmaceutical chemicals to a company that now makes and markets its own added-value formulations. Klinge Pharma has held the Quality Mark since 1990 and is also audited by FDA. They have an international reputation for their sustained release of pellets. These pellets make it possible for medicines to be safer and more effective in the treatment of disorders such as arthritis, asthma, and hypertension.

The Objective

The client was a very satisfied user of other Cone valve equipment, he had used the equipment for 10 years and “worked around” the inadequacies by habit. They were aware of a time-consuming cleaning and maintenance procedure and decided to do a trial with the ISL “Upgrade” system in order to assess the benefits.

The Solutions

ISL recommended our standard ‘Cone valve Upgrade’ system, there was no need to make special provisions for a pharmaceutical application.

Summary

Following elongated trials and successful internal validation of the equipment Klinge realized several benefits:

1. They were completely satisfied with the performance and instigated a program of replacements.

2. They also claim they achieve a discharge accuracy of +/- 20 g.
