The Client

Klinge Pharma is a pharmaceutical facility engaged in the manufacturing and distribution of disease-fighting agnts, and has an international reputation for its sustained release of pellets. These pellets make it possible for medicines to be safer and more effective in the treatment of disorders such as arthritis, asthma, and hypertension.

The Objective

The company operated a bulk bag discharger that was activated using vibrators on timers. A problem with erratic discharging meant a “trickle feed” method had to be used for 250 kg of a 500 kg batch, which proved to be very time-consuming and costly in the production

The Solutions

ISL proposed a bulk bag discharger version of our 350-discharger valve. Care had to be taken to not contaminate the product. The engineering team designed a “halo” that raises into the bag where the cone valve is not allowed to penetrate the bag contents.

Summary

ISL’s solution dramatically increased production efficiency and accuracy. The system primarily regulated the feed down to the weigh station allowing for fast filling and then fine trickle for the last few lbs. The retrofitting included full integration with the existing vibrating system to ensure proper discharge of bag contents. After successful customer trials, the client bought additional units to retrofit the other equipment.‍
