Cone Valve Technology

Controlled, Contained Powder Transfer

In bulk solids handling, reliable and clean discharge is critical to maintaining product quality, process efficiency and operator safety.

ISL's Cone Valve Technology is designed to overcome common discharge challenges by delivering controlled, mass-flow discharge with high containment and minimal product loss.

The Challenge

Why Controlled Discharge Matters

Conventional discharge valves can struggle with inconsistent flow, dust generation, contamination risk and material build-up — issues that directly impact product quality and process efficiency.

Dust Generation

Dust can escape during opening and closing operations, creating contamination risk and reducing operator safety.

Segregation

Funnel-flow patterns can contribute to material segregation, compromising blend uniformity and product consistency.

Contamination Risk

Poor sealing can increase contamination concerns, particularly in hygienic or regulated manufacturing environments.

Material Build-Up

Dead zones and retained material can make cleaning and maintenance more difficult, increasing changeover time.

The Difference

Conventional Discharge vs. Cone Valve Technology

Conventional Discharge

  • Funnel flow pattern
  • Dust generation
  • Material build-up in dead zones
  • Inconsistent discharge

Cone Valve Technology

  • Mass flow behaviour
  • Controlled opening
  • Contained transfer
  • More predictable discharge

Key Benefits

Designed for Controlled, Cleaner Discharge

01

Dust-Free, Contained Discharge

Sealed operation minimizes airborne particles and supports containment requirements for sensitive or hazardous materials.

02

Mass Flow Behaviour

Supports first-in, first-out discharge and helps prevent segregation and bridging across the outlet cross-section.

03

Reduced Cleaning Time

Minimal dead zones can support faster cleaning and batch changeovers, improving overall process uptime.

04

Lower Cross-Contamination Risk

A controlled interface reduces product retention at the discharge point, lowering risk between batch changeovers.

05

Improved Operator Safety

Reduced exposure to hazardous powders supports a cleaner working environment and aligns with operator protection requirements.

Mechanism

How Cone Valve Technology Works

The ISL Cone Valve system operates by lowering a conical valve into the IBC discharge outlet, creating a controlled annular opening between the cone and the vessel.

Technical Cross-Section — Step 01

Cone Valve Position

The cone lowers into the IBC discharge outlet, positioning itself at the base of the container ready for controlled operation. The cone is precision-engineered to align concentrically within the vessel outlet.

  • Consistent Flow
  • Clean Transfer
  • Better Control
